Corn–IT’S EVERYWHERE!

According to Michael Pollan, author of “The Omivore’s Dillemma” states “there are some 45,000 items in the American supermarket…more than a quarter of them contain corn in some form.” That’s nearly 12,000 products.

I’ve suffered from corn allergy for one-third of my life and it has been a frustrating journey.  It has been hard to find any one site with comprehensive, up-to-date information on how to live with a corn allergy.  My hope with this site is to remedy that.  I realize it is a fairly lofty ambition.  There are some great blogs with regard to cooking without corn products; however, if your cooking skills are fairly basic, as mine are, just getting a variety of things to eat can be difficult.

Those of you who have suffered from this allergy know just how pervasive corn is, not only in our diet but in the products we use daily.  My goal is to give direction to those who have just been diagnosed, those who suspect corn allergy, and to help those who, like me,  have been suffering from this allergy for years and who are looking for foods and products that are corn free.  It is also my intent to provide the latest information on food allergy treatments.

In constantly looking for new things that are corn free.  In reading the various sites I realized that not every one is as adventurous as I am with regard to trying new foods and products and I know why–it can be very tough, physically.  However, when I find something new that is corn free it really is thrilling.   To me the best part of having this site is to be able to share my new discoveries with other corn-allergic people.  Feel free to email me with any food/product suggestions and, as long as the ingredients are not overtly “corny,” and if I can purchase it in this area  I’ll be happy to try it.
